Ice Carving at Lock 3

January 12 4pm-8pm
January 13 1pm-4pm

Ice carving comes to Lock 3 on Saturday and Sunday, January 12th and 13th, as students from the University of Akron's Garde Manger Club sharpen-up their saws and chisels to practice for inter-collegiate competitions later this year.
Teams of students will be practicing their ice sculpting by carving ice blocks into sculptures for visitors.

The students are part of the University's Summit College Hospitality Management Program. The Garde Manger Club is a group of Hospitality Management students who have come together for vegetable and ice carving. The club is lead by Chef Richard Alford, CEC, CCE. Ice carving team members travel across the country competing in contests. Since 1994, the team has won four national ice carving competitions.
